We are a New York State-registered Independent Expenditure Committee dedicated to the immediate and full reopening of all New York City public schools, five days a week, with certified teachers providing in-person instruction.
On March 13, 2020, New York City public schools closed their doors. One year later, our schools are open in name only and only to a fraction of the student population. The 2021-22 school year is fast approaching.
The Mayor and his administration have no plan to functionally reopen our schools. If we want school to fully reopen in September 2021, we need to do it ourselves.
We need your support.
Our goal is to raise awareness amongst voters—especially families—that without immediate attention to this issue, school will not be “normal” in September 2021. Right now there is no plan to fully reopen public schools in the fall of 2021. This issue is not yet on the radar of most parents because most parents are too exhausted and overwhelmed to even consider what the Fall will look like. School districts around the country are already talking about hybrid school for the 2021-22 school year. We cannot wait until our leaders decide to make a plan for our children’s educations.
